Kenner was truly a marketing genius, realizing early on that kids buying action figures would also need things to hold, store, and transport action figures.
I still have all my copies of Bantha Tracks (the fan club news letter) in storage. I also kept my figures in the Rebel Troop Transport and a couple of Vader cases. The bandolier I picked up was missing all the foam, but the small container was FULL of various guns -- a rebellion gold mine! For the record, one size does NOT fit all when it comes to the bandolier, which is probably good news for my wife.
I never owned one of those as a kid and didn't even really know they existed until much later
They were a pretty late release, even late for Return of the Jedi toys. I suspect a lot of kids had moved on by the time these hit shelves.
Should have had wide elastic bands instead of the foam.
That definitely would have lasted longer. I doubt Kenner was worried about how they would function in 40 years.
