That's an awesome shirt (and would command easily $60-75 in a vintage shop), and what a great story, Rob! I am still kicking myself for tossing my Bridget Jones (the original movie) shot glass from the opening night in my city, tickets won on the radio!
I only vaguely remember the movie, and that "gleaming the cube" sounded like a made-up corporate thing.
My friends and I loved Thrashin' and watched it regularly. It had a way better cast of real skaters. As a teen, that movie made me want to go to California so bad because I was convinced there were pools and halfpipes to skate everywhere. Daggers for life!
I was in high school when this came out and for most of the spring semester of 89, we would make fun of the movie by saying "let's go gleam the cube" or "I can't tonight, I'm gleaming the cube" and other some context appropriate variation.
I haven't watched that movie in probably 35 years, I should revisit it and be reminded of how awesome it was to be a teenager in the 80s, the last best decade to have been one.

Sick shirt! I like GTC but I always thought Trashin' was a better movie even though it's got a corny Romeo and Juliet vibe.
